Some Great Exercises to help you Get Fit

Getting back into shape may be difficult, especially if you have been inactive for a while. Don’t forget that proper nutrition is a crucial part of any fitness program. Get some great nutrition programs on this site.

If you are completely out of shape and haven’t trained in years, but finally want to get into shape, fear not! All you have to do is start slowly, and work yourself up towards your fitness goals.

Start by walking – the simplest of exercises – several times a week for 30-45m. You don’t even have to set aside a special time for this activity, just change your daily routine a bit. Instead of taking the bus to go to work, walk. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Walk to the neighbourhood store instead of going by car. Or just set aside some time during the weekend and go visit your local park. Not only will you start getting fitter, but your mood will improve significantly by spending more time outside.

You can also start doing some simple exercises on the floor. Start with some simple crunches and pushups. The best time to do this is in the morning, right after you wake up, before you have breakfast. If you start exercising on an empty stomach, your body will have to burn fat for energy, making you lose weight faster. Just roll out of bed and get on the floor, and spend 15 minutes doing some different kinds of crunches and pushups. If you can’t do regular pushups, get on your knees and do them – it will be much easier until you get in shape.

After you have spent some time with these simple and light exercises, it is time to make things a little more difficult. Start hiking, or going for a very light jog several times a week. Get some good music on your iPod, put your headphones on and just go! You will very quickly see the positive results, both on your waistline and your mood. If you are bored going running alone – take a friend. A much better way to hang out than sitting in a smoky cafe!

Finally – join a gym or a group class for whatever interests you. Try Zumba, Aerobics, or if you are more the rough type, a martial arts course. These group courses are always a great and fun social gathering, and seeing other people work with you always improves your motivation!

Good luck and enjoy yourself!
